WINTER WEDDING IN NORTHERN IRELAND!

Yes, Northern Ireland can have all four season in one day regardless what the season is. There are things to be aware of when planning your wedding in Northern Ireland during the winter months.

With my experience shooting wedding’s in Northern Ireland, I have created a list of my tips and things to consider. All from experience.

Winter weddings have a totally different feel than a summer wedding. Here’s a few of my tips if your planning a winter wedding!

My Winter Wedding tips …

Winter Light-

Disappears super fast during Winter with sunset around 4pm depending on the date. To help with the right time scale for best light here’s a few of my tips I recommend to give you the most out of your daylight hours…

  • EARLY ceremony! Book as early as you can, yes you’ll have to get up earlier BUT it will give you more time to play with afterwards. Your day goes by so fast, the longer you can make it, I promise you’ll be so happy setting that alarm. Ideally about 12pm.
  • Ceremony and reception at same venue. Traveling time eats into your daylight. You really don’t wan’t to arrive at your reception venue when it’s dark. You’ve maybe choose your venue because it’s beautiful outside gardens for example. Arrive in darkness you won’t even see it in it’s full glory, never mind get the dream photos your after.
  • Early sunset means the light has gone before your sitting down for your meal. Capturing your family and bridal portrait photos straight after ceremony. If your ceremony is late time, getting those BEFORE ceremony can help greatly.

Winter Weather-

  • Always prepare for all weather.
  • Umbrellas are a must, that just incase moment. Always buy clear.
  • Think would you go outside in a dress in winter? Think extra layers to keep warm.
  • Buying your bridesmaids shawls will be a winner.
  • Hand warmers.
  • If frosty allow extra time for travel for you and your guests.
  • When choosing your wedding venue for winter, make sure it has beautiful areas INSIDE. Incase the weather is awful and the thought of getting your dress wet is your worst nightmare. If your venue is just as gorgeous inside then you can get your photos without going outside.
